My husband seems to like pies, especially apple pies. I have grown to like pies, but I’m not a huge fan of them. So making personal size pies seems to be the way to go for me. They are small enough to take on the go; you can keep the apple pies in a Ziploc bag or other airtight container to keep them fresh a bit longer than your average apple pie. The best part, is they are made from scratch.
Personal Apple Pies
This recipe was adapted from LittleBit Funky; I cut the recipe in half because we didn’t need to have 24 of these yummy personal apple pies. If you would like to make the recipe exactly like the original, then you just need to double up on everything.
Personal Apple Pies
- 4-5 Cups Apples cut up into 1/2" pieces
- 6 tablespoons Flour
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- Dash Nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons Butter cut into 12 portions. 1 tablespoon or so extra melted
- 1 Box Pillsbury pie crust
- Peel and cut the apples into 1/2" pieces, you do not have to peel the apples I just prefer them peeled.
- Combine apples with the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well mixed.
- Unroll the pie crust and cut several circles out of them, you can use the mouth of a mason jar or the mason jar lid (wide mouth jar) for the perfect size. Place one circle over each muffin cup and gently push down to form a cup.
- Fill each cup with the apple mixture, gently pressing down to get the crust all the way to the bottom.
- Place one portion of butter onto each pie and place any additional crust on the top as you wish.
- Brush melted button on top of pies and bake for about 20 minutes at 400°.
You can use a spoon or a silicone spoon to push the pies out. Super easy to do when still hot because they are a bit oily from the butter. However, it can be done once cooled if you can wait that long.
